Preparing to Get a Cat

Cat

Cat can make superb pets. They are often affectionate and playful, providing their owners with endless hours of entertainment. However, before people welcome these creatures into their homes, they must ensure they create the right environments. For example, cats need somewhere comfortable to rest and sleep undisturbed. Some cats, especially shy ones, like soft beds with roofs. Others prefer open baskets lined with bedding.

In addition, it’s important that they have access to safe hiding places. Often, they feel most secure when they’re high up, so if possible they should have safe access to resting places on top of furniture like shelves and cupboards. If the animals don’t have anywhere they can go and hide, they can become stressed. It’s also crucial for owners to remove potential hazards. Too often, vets are confronted with pet injuries that could have been prevented with a little more care. For example, people should try to keep their cats away from sharp or hot objects, as well as dangerous chemicals.

In addition, owners need to provide their creatures with access to suitable pet food and water and the animals need to be able to either get outside or use a litter tray. When more than one cat is welcomed into a house, it’s a good idea for owners to provide each with its own food and water bowls, bed and if possible litter tray. Even if the animals get on with one another, they may like their privacy and independence from time to time.
